Above is a screenshot from the Finnish weather service today at 12:40 showing the temperature curve for the last 24 hours at the airport nearby.
+25.1 C or 77.2 F !
We even had a thunderstorm this morning which is very unusual in May.
The bad news is that this pre-summer will last only for a week. Then we are back to the normal crappy 12 - 15 C again.

I spent most of the day outdoors and could not stop being amazed at how it was suddenly summer. And how everything was suddenly green and the forests were full of windflowers (valkovuokko).
That's amazing Hans. I can see Sweden didn't have it nearly so good. We've had a beautiful day here, but it hasn't been that warm, maybe 14 degrees, and now it's chilly again. The temperature is set to increase but still won't reach 20 in the following week...;-( I should have waited a couple of weeks for my visit, shouldn't I?
I am so glad Summer has found itself your way, you have waited through a long cooold winter! Wonderful.
Maria, the birches literally exploded into green here yesterday after the thunderstorm in the morning and I would very much appreciate windflowers here but they will not survive the winter here.
Val, this is a very typical weather situation here in April - June. We will have an outbreak of "Russian heat" once or twice each spring or pre-summer until the ice have completely left the Gulf of Bothnia and the surface temperature has risen above 13-15 C. That gulf is blocking the warm air from reaching Sweden but high up north they may have the same temperatures as we have!
Even the archipelago on the other side of the Replot bridge may have temperatures 10 C below our temperature here!
Your timing was definitely very bad this time :) And this weekend you could have been joining us celebrating our new kitchen! Still some patch-up and mouldings to be done but it is all in operating order now. Look out for pictures at ingelas blog.
Grace, we are very happy! Read my newspaper this morning in the sunshine at the back of the house. Well I sat in our sunroom... :)
