It is not great fun to run around outdoors with the camera nowadays when the temperature rarely rises above -15 C. Fingers get stiff and cold after some few minutes, though my Nikon D70 is quite big you cannot really handle all the small buttons and controls with mittens on. Anyway our surroundings are really beautifully shaped by the snow and ice so there is a certain need to go out and shoot some photos to show you all.

it may be arctic, but that sunset is beautiful. I feel I could reach out and touch that snow, the pics are so clear and cold. -15c. my oh my that is veeeery cold. I would stay indoors myself.
Your land looks so delightfully snowy and cold!
The sunset over the ice is beautiful - it sets at about 3:30 here now.
And your home looks very inviting!
Hans, you home looks as it it has been the subject of a massive cake decoration! I cannot imagine going out, let alone cycling to work in -15 degrees, but then you Finns are made of sterner stuff than my South Africa weakened constitution can cope with. Not that I ever liked the cold, even as a child.
These photos are beautiful Hans. I agree with Grace and Dale about the sunset, but the others are gorgeous too. Make your your D70 doesn't get cold as well!
Hi all, yes the sunset was a very spectacular one that afternoon, because of the weather conditions with a lot of ice particles in the air there was a lot of funny light bending effects going on distorting the shape of the sun and causing peculiar vertical rays which are not really as prominent in the picture as they were to the laked eye. The picture was shot from the car window as we stopped at a good spot on the causeway between the islands of Björkö and Replot.
Cycling in low temperatures is not a big deal if the weather is crisp and clear with low winds. This morning it was down to -27.5 C when I left and it was not bad att all. The grease in all the bearings get stiff in the cold so you stay warm while pedalling... :)
-5 C, combined with falling snow and heavy headwind is much worse!
